Thanks to our knowledge and expertise in the field, we are able to work on all kinds of properties using our specially developed equipment.

Rodents (Rats and Mice)

With an uncanny ability to chew through walls and electrical wiring, rodents are one of the most destructive pests that can invade your business. Not only can they cost you money, but they can also contaminate food and spread diseases. Renowned for carrying diseases such as salmonella, E. coli, Weil’s disease and possibly ticks, mites or fleas, a rodent infestation needs to be dealt with professionally and immediately.

Signs of a Rodent Infestation Include

  • Characteristic ‘stale’ odours that can be easily recognised
  • Scratching or gnawing noises in the wall, floor or roof space
  • Droppings in or around your workplace
  • Damage to your property, such as chewed furnishings, fittings, desks, cables or torn up insulation
  • Nests with shredded material, such as insulation, paper or packaging
  • Stock damage

Rodent Treatment and Control

At Aardvark Pest Control, we can offer prompt and professional rodent control services at affordable prices.

  • Safely destroy nests
  • Eliminate rodents using rodenticides
  • Block entry points to deter rodent access
  • Set up humane traps and bait

Ants

Ants are mainly a nuisance pest rather than a health problem. Ants cause problems primarily when they forage in buildings for food or water and when they construct nests in buildings and outdoor areas. When searching for food, they are attracted to a wide range of foodstuffs. They will also search indoors for water during dry periods. When desirable items are found many species will recruit fellow nest mates to help gather the food and return it to the nest. This can result in large numbers of ants appearing over a short period.

Treatment of Ants

A full ant infestation requires professional treatment to completely eradicate the problem and can take the form of:

  • Bait stations. These are strategically laid out in the ants' path. Ants will take the bait back to the nest, which should effectively eliminate the entire colony. This process uses fewer chemicals but may take several days to see results.
  • Insecticidal dust and sprays are used when instant eradication is desired. Treatments are applied directly to the ants and the ant nest. In some cases, the use of both bait and chemical treatments are recommended.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches are known carriers of diseases including salmonella, dysentery and gastroenteritis and exposure to this type of pest can cause significant health risks. They are hardy insects and their ability to breed rapidly makes professional treatment a necessity to effectively control and eradicate any infestation. Cockroaches are mostly active at night, so it is sometimes easier to spot the signs rather than sighting the insect itself such as:

  • Unusual smells
  • Black/brown cylindrical droppings about 2mm
  • Brown, irregular smear marks in areas close to the water
  • Shed skin

Cockroach Treatment

Our professional pest controllers can quickly and safely eliminate cockroaches from your business without causing a risk to you, your employees or your clients. We use specialist traps and non-toxic sprays and dust to target areas where cockroaches hide. Once the infestation has been cleared, our knowledgeable team can offer advice on proofing your property to prevent further infestations.

Birds

Birds are known to spread more than 60 transmittable diseases, including salmonella, histoplasmosis, meningitis and encephalitis. They also carry fleas, ticks, lice and mites. Corrosive bird droppings can erode building finishes, causing costly and ongoing maintenance and repairs. Droppings can also cause slippery walking and working conditions, leading to potential accidents and loss of productivity. When congregating in large numbers, birds are noisy and can be offensive to customers.

Bird Control and Treatment

The strategies that need to be employed for effective bird management are many and varied. They depend upon the particular bird species, the roosting/nesting locations, bird pressure, and the population density.

Bird pressure can be defined as the level of commitment of the individual bird or flock to visit an area and their desire to reclaim their former territory after bird management techniques have been put in place. A site with food, water, shelter and confined spaces for nesting offers high bird pressure.

We Provide Two Basic Approaches to Bird Management

  • Alter the environment (roosting/nesting sites) to make it unattractive or impossible for birds to utilise
  • Remove the birds from the environment by trapping, baiting and shooting

For Effective Control, We Also Recommend

  • No foodstuff is available to attract birds to the area
  • Discourage staff from leaving food scraps in eating areas
  • Remove potential nesting materials from the site
  • Remove bird droppings to avoid possible disease transmission
  • All tree branches overhanging buildings should be trimmed

Termites

If you discover termites at your business premises, you should take the following measures:
  • Leave the infested area alone and undamaged, including the mud tunnels termites will build over materials like brick and concrete through which they cannot tunnel
  • Barricade the area of infestation to prevent entry
  • Immediately contact Aardvark Pest Control to attend the site. We are experienced in termite control systems
  • Understand the implications and agree with the Aardvark Pest Controls technical advisor on the termite management program be implemented
Several options can be used to manage termites, including baiting and application of insecticides. Termite control without the use of chemicals is not possible in existing buildings, although there are options (such as baiting) where the chemical is applied in a well-controlled and selected manner. The installation of non‐chemical physical barriers is only possible during the construction of the building and is not an option in existing structures.

Facilities Management

Due to the ongoing and challenging problems of controlling pest activity in a commercial environment, the success of a commercial pest control management program can be measured by ongoing continuous improvements. This can be identified in timeframes and by applying key performance indicators.

Inspections will be carried out at regular intervals to highlight conditions conducive to an infestation. All recommendations for pest control are documented on a service report and any use of pesticides will not be used until other options have been tried.
